Looking to spread Christmas joy this season, the Drumheller Girl Guides gathered at the Knox United Church on the afternoon of Dec. 16, all bundled up and ready to head out into the community to go caroling.

"The Girl Guides of Drumheller are heading downtown to sing Christmas carols," explained District Commissioner Paula Peake. "We thought there might be people doing their last minute shopping and it would be a great time for the girls to be seen in the community."

Although Girl Guides has members aged five to 18, it was mostly the younger girls and their parents who showed up on Saturday afternoon.

"I believe we're probably between 15-20 girls," said Peake. "We have five year-olds all the way up to probably 10 and 12 year-olds."

With so many young girls, a big challenge was making sure they all knew the words to the songs they were planning to sing.

"We have songbooks so thank goodness!" replied Peake, when asked. "That does give us some help!"

When speaking with the girls, 99.5 Drum FM learned that the popular songs this year include Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer and Come All Ye Faithful.
