The Drumheller Fun Team Hockey partnered up with the Drumheller Dragons for a fantastic fundraising idea that was a huge success.

The Drumheller Dragons presented Drumheller Fun Team Hockey with a cheque for approximately $750 as result of Fun Team’s efforts in a fundraiser to pre-sell Dragons tickets for the February 2 home game against the Brooks Bandits.

"What we wanted to do was create an initiative that would boost our ticket sales to some Dragons games to a different audience of people and also help a community group and this is the first one we did. It's something that we want to continue on with any group. We gave the Drumheller Fun Team tickets to the game against the Brooks Bandits and the team sold them. The group was awarded 30 per cent of the funds raised from the ticket sales back to their group. The fun team sold just over $2,500 worth of tickets," explained Drumheller Dragons Business Manager, Dustin Edwards.

"It reached another group of members in the community that we've never seen at games before, and when the Fun Team sells tickets again, those people will support them and enjoy another game."

Round one of the 2019 FunTeam-Dragons Challenge Cup held during Dragons February 2nd home game with Brooks Bandits saw the Drumheller Jr. FunTeam Blizzard shutout the Drumheller Jr. Thunder 2-0.

"We gave the top 8 ticket sellers for Fun Team, some flex tickets for any game this year." Edwards continued, "We had the "Fun Team Challenge Cup" at intermission so we had the kids playing each other after the first period. They will do the same again on March 3rd when the Dragons host Calgary at the Memorial Arena."

The money that was presented is for something very special for the Fun Team Players.
