Another great showing by the Drumheller Fire Department at a Firefit competition.
Firefit is a sport that sees contestants perform in a number of events designed to test their fitness for fire fighting.
Three Drumheller members, including deputy chief Duane Bolin, attended the Central Prairie Regional event in Edson on the weekend.
"Darby Page had a great run on the weekend, the first time he's been in the medal round," noted Bolin. "He ended up taking third place in the 40 and over (category) for his individual run on the Saturday (May 27)."
Bolin and Merv Smith compete in the 50 and over category. Duane finished first, while Merv was third. Bolin also topped the 'chiefs' category and together, they won Sunday's two man relay.
"None of the young guys could make it this weekend, but we're going to Calgary, Spruce Meadows, on June 10-11 weekend," outlined Bolin. "We're going to have us three again as well as probably three of our rookies coming out."
"That'll be the Southern Regionals in Calgary, the region that the Drumheller Department is in," he added. "We'll need to have a good showing there and hopefully we can place well and qualify for nationals."
