The Drumheller Valley could see a new resident in charge.

Drumheller's very own Heather Colberg has announced she is going to be running for the Mayor of Drumheller this fall.

"I absolutely love our valley, born and raised here. I'm inspired by the people and by how much people really care and I just thought I would love to give back in a different way," expressed Colberg.

Colberg mentioned that right now what she would like to do is to meet with a bunch of Drumheller residents.

"People want to see the community advance in a different way. Although the economy is bad, people want to see the empty buildings filled and the empty homes filled. I want to take the knowledge that I have, along with the people out there that have the ability to help, and let's do what we can to make this all happen."

"I'm actually going to visit different mayors, get different ideas and then from there I can make a decision. At this point I don't think it's fair for me to make the decision, I think it's about the people," she noted.

Within the first couple weeks of June, Drumheller residents can set up meetings with Heather to discuss what they would like to see done with our community.

"It's for people to come and actually visit with me, talk, give me ideas and suggestions. From there I'll open it up, but just because it's so new right now I just want to give people time to think about what they want to happen and the changes they want."
