A new change to Drumheller's Community Futures also brings in new ideas.

Sharel Shoff is the newly appointed Board Chair.

"I believe in Community Futures, and I believe in what they can do for the community. You can help entrepreneurs and you get more economic development. I would like to see that for Drumheller and that's why I like to be involved," explained Shoff.

The organization is there to help small business entrepreneurs succeed through advice and education. Shoff is excited to start on some new ventures.

"First of all, I am going to start from the start. I am going to look at the policies, what they have got, where they are trying to do, and where they want to go as a board. So we will decide where that is," continued Shoff. "We will look at our staffing and what our staffing is doing. We will look at what our goals are with western diversification. That will be the first kick at the cat."

Shoff goes on to say the importance of Community Futures in the community is undeniable.

"I think it is something we have to keep going. Hopefully, there is an upswing in people wanting to get loans, and people wanting to be entrepreneurs. I think that would be really good if we could encourage them," said Shoff. "We help people with business plans and that type of thing, so I think we need to get out of the community and let people know we are here, if you need help, please come and help us, and we will see what we can do."
