The money goes right to the players and their families.

On Thursday, June 21, the first day of summer, Drum FM hosted a barbeque fundraiser for five U16 D Pure Venom Softball athletes. The fundraiser was called Kick-off to Summer.

The athletes competed in a try-out and were chosen to represent Zone 2 at the Alberta Summer Games.

"We raised $533.38," reported Kayla Clark, Administrative Assistant for 99.5 Drum FM.

"I thought that it was a good choice because there are five girls that made it from one team," she explained. "There's only 14 girls on this team and five of our girls made it."

Clark added the money will go towards hotels and fuel to get the team to and from the Alberta Summer Games in Grade Prairie.

"We are going to Grande Prairie from the 18th to the 22nd in July," player Brooklyn Hartman said. "There's five people going from Drumheller, 14 in total."

Drum FM wants to thank all the community members who helped with donations and wishes our athletes the best of luck.
