Drumheller's Society for Recovery got a big lift recently as the Drumheller Dragons and their fans raised money for Grace House.
Executive Director Joseph Legacy accepted a cheque for $2,416 from the Dragons at their February 25 regular season home closer that was raised during the Pack the House for Charity event on February 10 against the Brooks Bandits.
"I really appreciate everything all the community does, but I really appreciate what the Dragons did and the people who attended the game," he gushed. "It just shows a very strong support."
"I like it when the community comes together and, as a non-profit organization, it's all about having that community support and building strong community relations."
Grace House on 3 Street, SW, across from St. Anthony's Church, has undergone a number of repairs recently, including a new roof last year, but Legacy says they have bigger plans for the future.
"We're putting it in our building fund, saving it for our future endeavors," he told 99.5 Drum FM. "Any future growth ideas that we have (and) all the donations that we get will be moving into our building fund to build a bigger, better version of what we do."
