Some fierce voting for 14 days brought a conclusion to which Dinosaur names will be part of our Downtown street names.

"The total number of votes that were cast through the two week period was just over 3,000, which is great. We had great participation and involvement from the public and we had lots of website traffic as well," outlined Paul Salvatore, Director of Community Services for the Town of Drumheller.

Some of the winning Dinosaur names are the Edmontonsaurus, Parasaurolophus, Anklyosaurus and the Triceratops.

"It's kind of surprising in some ways that Albertosaurus turned out to be the top choice among the majority of voters, but it was just a narrow victory over the T-Rex by about 16 votes," Salvatore expressed.

"There wasn't a dinosaur on the list that didn't get voted for, so there as definitely a lot of interest and very close on votes between some of them; some only being separated by a single vote."

So, when will the signs be added?

"We're working with a few groups right now to get some mock-ups so we can start putting these out there. Certainly our goal would be that you will see these the late part of summer this year," Salvatore explained.

There has been some discussion whether or not these signs are necessary for our town, but many have been defending the idea.

"I think the key here is it re-enforces Drumheller's position as the Dinosaur capital of the world, it's a fun project and we look forward to putting it in place," Salvatore concluded.

The top 10 most voted Dinosaurs are as follows:

1. Albertosaurus
2. Tyrannosaurus Rex
3. Triceratops
4. Ankylosaurus
5. Gorgosaurus
6. Toodon
7. Centrosaurus
8. Edmontonsaurus
9. Stegoceras
10. Parasaurolophus
