If it wasn't for bad luck, some people wouldn't have any.
A house just outside Rosedale on the Wayne Road (Highway 10X) that was hit by flooding on the weekend was destroyed by fire last night.
The Drumheller Fire Department got the call at 1:08 a.m.
"We responded with the truck from Rosedale, a pump from Drumheller, a tank truck from Drumheller, a rescue unit and East Coulee brought their tanker in," related Fire Chief Bruce Wade. "We also contacted the town for a tanker for water supply because there's no hydrants out at this location."
"We had about 16 firemen on scene and it was fully involved, the back part of the house, when we arrived on scene," he continued. "We had it basically under control at about 2:30."
Wade said the house is a write-off, but they managed to save some out buildings.
"They had some flooding from the ice backup on the weekend and they were trying to remediate some of that type of stuff," explained Wade. "At this point in time we're really not sure what we've got (for a cause) but it will be investigated."
