It'll be at least another two weeks until the Drumheller Aquaplex is open for business.
The indoor pool was closed in spring 2017 for renovations including a gradual pool entry. The opening date was originally slated for Nov. 1, but it's now been pushed back to Nov. 16.
Drumheller CAO Darryl Drohemerski said the small delay was caused by a small problem
"We've had a couple little glitches with the pool and it's caused us to delay the opening by a couple of weeks," he explained. "It's an issue with a couple of fittings that have failed and the replacement parts failed and then, the replacement parts to those didn't work properly."
The part is expected to be replaced this week, but that doesn't mean the pool can be reopened immediately.
"The work will be done at least the week before [Nov. 16], but then it takes time to fill the pool with water and get it tested and warmed up for all the patrons. So that will take four or five days."
The outdoor pool closed at the beginning of October, 2017. This meant people with Aquaplex memberships have been unable to use their passes. Don't worry, said Drohemerski.
"The memberships for the Aquaplex are being extended for the amount of days that we weren't able to provide members access to the pool," he reassured patrons. "We extended everyone's membership by a month and now we're extending it again by another 15 days."
