The Drumheller Co-op Home Centre threw a party on Friday, and dozens of people showed up to celebrate and to learn a little something.

Myrna Docktorchik explains that the party wasn't about celebrating Co-op at all, it was about celebrating contractors and vendors who make the store what it is.

"For new contractors signing up, we have some gifts for them when they come. And, we've a draw box also for contractors to fill in for some prizes."

99.5 Drum FM was on hand with swag and a winning wheel to help give away some of the larger prizes.

Docktorchik pointed out that one of the highlights of the party is the chance for contractors to talk to vendors about their products, or to learn about new products or services.

"Vendors that are here are showing their products and wares and how to install and put on," she explained. "We've got a guy for painting your garage floors, or basement floors, for a product to protect it. And, we have [a vendor demonstrating] decking materials and flooring materials."

Of course, it wouldn't be a party without some food.

"We've got lunch on," said Docktorchik. "We've got burgers still going on the barbeque, we're got pop and water."

She explained that Contractor Appreciation Day is held annually by Co-op Home Centres across the province, but that each location gets to choose the date and what activities to hold.
