Friday, October 26, 2018 was a special day for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Drumheller.

The local branch marked 100 years in the valley by inviting customers to drop by its location at 3 Ave. and 1 St, SW.

Branch manager Pat Giffin said they've come a long way since the first bank opened in what's now called the Emporium Building at 3 Ave. and Centre St.

"Back in 1913, the Standard Bank opened in that building," she informed Drum FM. "The Canadian Bank of Commerce took that Standard Bank over in 1928, we were in that  building until 1991, when we came over to our new location."

Giffin has been with CIBC for 24 years, the last 10 of them as Drumheller Branch Manager.

"Lot's of different changes, obviously, and staff and that,:" she recalled. "Our clients have remained tried and true and without our clients, we wouldn't be in business today."

"We have clients that have been clients for probably 70 and 80 years," she added. "Lots of changes, some have embraced them more than others, but just a total great banking experience for them."
