Becky Neuman's Christmas Cantata has wrapped up for another year. The popular annual choir performance held three shows this year, one in Morrin and two in Drumheller.

Neuman was surprised at the attendance numbers this year. The Friday show was held at the small Bethany Lutheran Church in Morrin, and the Saturday and Sunday shows were held at the Kaleidoscope Theatre at Drumheller Valley Secondary School.

"We had a full house and it was more people than we'd ever had there in that little church," said Neuman. "Saturday was up around 80 and Sunday was close to 100."

Neuman didn't think up the idea for a Christmas choir, but she did organize this group after being inspired by one.

"I just thought it would be fun to get some people together and do a Christmas show. We used to listen to The Singing Christmas Tree and so, I thought it would be fun to try something like that."

"It was just going to be a small thing with a small group and then it kind of evolved. This year I had 22 singers, and it usually averages between 22 and 26."

Because the choir is sponsored by the Bethany Lutheran Church, the songs are based on the birth of Christ, explained Neuman.
