Looking for a 2018 calendar? Chinook Financial has you covered. The credit union has announced the winners of this year's Chinook Financial Calendar Contest and three of the winners are from the Drumheller area.

Megan Douglas is with Chinook Financial. Last year, they changed the contest a bit, while still keeping the spirit of the contest as it has been for years.

"This has now been running for a number of years at Chinook Financial and, as of the last two years, we've been running it as an online opportunity for photographers around the region to share what makes Alberta special to them."

Area winners this year are Viresh Sharma (February), Alisha Ferguson (July) and Tammy Jensen (September). Winners received $100 and a few promotional perks.

"We also profile them through our social media mediums, so they get some profiling of their artwork," explained Douglas. "We also occasionally do use the art in our advertising with the name attributed to the photographer, as well as getting a bunch of calendars to give to their friends and family."

Entrants were asked to submit photos which showed a landscape or way of life in an area where Chinook Financial has a branch. The public is then asked to go online and vote for the pictures which best represent Southern Alberta.

"A lot of people who are not necessarily full-time photographers have a chance to share their art and get their name out amongst their peers and communities in a very different way than their day to day opportunities present to them," said Douglas.

The calendars will be available while supplies last at Chinook Financial starting International Credit Union Day on Oct. 19. All 13 winning photographs can be found on Chinook Financial's facebook page.
