After three years in Drumheller it's time to say good-bye to the couple running the local Salvation Army Church, Food Bank and Thrift Store.
Captains Shane and Jennifer Hillier are leaving the valley for a posting in Edmonton.
"That'll take place at the end of June; we'll be heading out and Captains Ben and Isobel Lippers will be coming to lead the Salvation Army here in Drumheller," reported Jennifer Hillier. "They come to us from Lethbridge and they have experience in the kind of ministries that we have here in Drumheller."
The news comes as a surprize to many, but Hillier said there was an opportunity she just couldn't pass up.
"It's really dear to my heart and a passion of mine, so I'll be working among the homeless folks up there and in the shelters and the addictions programs," she announced. "It really is close to my heart and something that I'm very passionate about."
"We're going to miss this community," Hillier confessed. "It's been a tremendous experience to be here and be a part of this community and see the support for the work of the Salvation Army and how the community just comes alongside and pulls together to help their neighbors; it really is tremendous."
