The Drumheller Chamber of Commerce held a general meeting on Oct. 18. At the meeting, they filled three board positions that had been vacated since the Chamber's Annual General Meeting in March 2017.

Vanessa Page, Chair of the Drumheller Public Library Board and Darryl Reid of Darryl Reid Photography were elected to two-year terms. Chris Sadler of ATB Financial was elected to a six-month term.

Reid is proud to be a new Chamber board member.

"The opportunity was there and I've been a member of the business community now for a couple of decades," he explained. "I've had some time to look around and see things and thought I might be able to provide some input that would be worthwhile."

Sadler is the new  to Drumheller but has more than a decade of experience in finance and has worked with small businesses. agriculture businesses and technology.

"I think the main reason why I wanted to get involved in the Chamber was: I try to give back to the communities that I'm in and I think the Chamber of Commerce here in Drumheller is very unique, and it's a great opportunity to give back to the community and be part of helping mold it for the future," said Sadler.

When asked about the future of Drumheller, both Reid and Sadler agreed that helping visitors and outsiders learn more about the community is important.

"I believe that Drumheller would benefit from better signs," said Reid. "With the new pullover area at the bottom of the south hill, I think that would be a great place for a business directory and business advertising, as a lot of towns do. I think it would benefit the entire community and most especially the visitors who come to our community so they have a better idea and they're not just searching around in the dark for whatever might be here."

The general meeting was followed by the Chamber's annual Business Excellence Awards.
