Canadian Blood Services is coming back to the Drumheller Valley on April 18.

"We are trying to collect 120 blood donations, which means we need about 170 donors to help us get that 120 target on the day of," Lisa Castro, Territory Manager for Canadian Blood Services, explained.

Castro added that the typical goal is around 96 donations, but they've added the extra units to accomadate more donors.

"We're looking for about 42,000 donations across the province for the months of April and May. Donations often decrease around the long weekend," Castro told 99.5 Drum FM, "We know that people are busy with family activities, but we are hoping those that are avaliable can step up and donate blood."

Men can donate every 56 days, and women can donate every 84 days.

Castro also mentioned that it is important for donors to come in well hydrated and well fed for their appointment.
