That word from Service Alberta, which oversees consumer protection laws in this province.
"We tend to deal with the majority of landlord and tenant complaints, a lot of pre-paid contractor complaints and misleading and misrepresentations in regards to any type of consumer or business transaction," explained Senior Investigator Julie Matthews. "This would be much more unusual for us."
Greg and Jodi Kucher hired Carmel Joy Baird and paid her more than $500 up front over three years ago and still haven't had a reading.
"In many of the cases and complaints that we've received, some of the consumers have actually withdrawn their complaint, we've had some complaintants that have received a refund from the company and then we have a number of files that are still under investigation," outlined Matthews, who had one general piece of advice for everyone.
"We all hate the fine print, we don't always read it or understand it and a lot of times we believe what someone tells us verbally," she pointed out. "It's so important to never accept those verbal agreements and to go with what you're actually seeing in front of you and what you're signing."
