On Saturday afternoon, Nov. 25, Drumheller and area residents scooped up their pets and headed to the Co-op mall for a photo op with Santa Claus.

The popular Paws for a Cause event is held annually by the Drumheller and District Humane Society. Society Vice-President Megan Shearer explained that the event is popular with pets and people.

"We do this every year, but this is just a fun event. We get lots of donations, and it's fun for the community," elaborated Shearer.

So, what exactly was going on in the old Registries space?

"We're taking photos with Dr. Dwayne from Valley Vet Clinic with our animals," said Shearer. "We have free nail trims going on, we have hot chocolate, we have free coffee."

Photos with Dr. Dwayne were by donation, and Shearer said that anything people can give is gratefully welcomed by the Society.

"Right now we have a lot of cats, we have a lots of dogs. We're low on cat food, we're low on dog food. So, just as much as we can."

The event was a hit again this year, with more than a dozen pets visiting within the first hour.
