The weather today could be a surprise but, if you're being honest with yourself, you know it isn't.

When the weather is consistently tricking you into thinking it's getting better, you have to level up your mental fortitude and remember to keep your witts about you on the roads in such conditions.

"With any inclement weather, you always have to drive to the conditions," safety tips provided by Staff Sgt. Kevin Charles of the Drumheller RCMP. "Wether it's rain or snow, you need to slow down. Give yourself lots of rooms between you and the vehicle in front of you. Turn your heads lights on and make sure your rear lights are on as well. You want to make sure you're visible to other motorists."kevincharlesStaff Sgt. Kevin Charles

"In the event that the weather turns cold tonight with all this precipitation, it could really turn into icy conditions," said Staff Sgt. Charles. "You'll want to drive to those road conditions and slow down."

"If you're involved in a motor vehicle collision, obviously if there are any injuries, dial 911," instructed Charles. "If you slip into the ditch and your vehicle is fine and there is no injuries, then simply call a tow company."

The forecast for tonight is predicted to be in below freezing temperatures, expect icy roads in the early morning and again, drive to the conditions of the roads. Alberta 511 is also reporting some highways leading out of town can be icy and snow covered.
