With the recent allegations towards Banana Boat sunscreen, a lot more people are being cautious with how they protect themselves.

Although the Banana Boat product allegedly caused adverse reactions, local pharmacists still encourage Drumheller residents to protect themselves from the sun.

"The possibility of this event happening as a common occurrence or a rare occurrence, I would probably choose to protect my skin," stated Anderson Drug's pharmacist, Pay Doyle.

"If we get into a car we're more likely to have a car accident, a much higher percentage of getting injured, but we don't talk about those types of things. We just talk about the rare events and this is a rare event," Doyle explained.

Although there have been 16 reports sent to Health Canada, we all need to take care of ourselves by stopping any harm that could be done by the UV rays.

"I'm not going to stay stop using Banana Boat because Banana Boat ingredients are the same as other products out there because it is a common ingredient in sunscreen products," concluded Doyle.
