Some local bikers are getting prepared for their highly anticipated summer adventure.

Two Wheel View's Badlands to Banff Bike Trip takes off on August 9 and returns on August 20.

"I used to bike with my dad and I thought, well this is great, I love biking; I'll meet new people and I've been to Banff once before and I really want to go again," said Randy McHugh.

"I remember I passed out in a chair due to exhaustion and when I woke there was a hoodie on me that belonged to someone else on the trip," recalled Matthew Doyle, who is doing a bike trip in Quebec this summer, but will still be fundraising with the Drumheller group. "Even though we were only two days in, we were already bonding as a group and it felt really good to me."

Doyle's bike excursion is scheduled to begin in Montreal on August 4 and ends in Quebec City on August 13.

"This year we are doing the Gran Fondo, we set up a booth and as the bikers come by we give them what they need," said Andrew Germain, who will be embraking on the bike trip for a third time. "We do the July 1 barbecue and before we have asked businesses for money, they responded generously."

The goupr gets together every Wednesdsay evening at the BCF. For more information on the Badlands to Banff Bike Trip follow this link.
