A Drumheller art gallery will be welcoming artists from across the province this weekend.

The Western GM Art Gallery at the Badlands Community Facility is hosting "Bridges: A Celebration of the 85th anniversary of the Alberta Society of Artists" on Saturday.

The Society's mandate is to promote the visual arts of Alberta and recognize and endorse artists of the province.

"Some of their members initially found our gallery. Last week we had some Alberta Society of Artists in the gallery and the word spread really quickly that it's a great space," said Janet Mason who manages the gallery.

The open house will get underway at 1 p.m. and will feature guest speaker Chelsea Rushton. A guided tour of the exhibit will start at 1:30 Saturday afternoon.

"It's really a lovely show. There's about 13 or 14 artists in it (and) all kinds of different styles and you'll probably really enjoy if you come out," Mason smiled.

She adds visitors will be able to talk with the artists during the open house which goes until 3 p.m.. The art work will remain in the gallery for the entire month of March.
