Renovations are moving along at the Drumheller Aquaplex.

The indoor pool at the Aquaplex has been shut down for awhile in order to install a gradual pool entry.

"You're almost better starting from scratch with a pool but when you're doing a retro fit like this, there is an awful lot of work to do like taking the old concrete out," said Director of Infrastructure Services, Darryl Drohomerski. " You're basically building a pool within the pool box. We still have a ways to go with the project, but there is definitely a lot of work involved."

"It's going to be a fantastic looking pool so it's going to be great for families and people of all ages to utilize it," explained Drohomerski. "In the case like this,  change takes a bit of time and costs a bit of money and there is no question that at the end the result will be worth every penny we have spent."

Construction for the pool renovations is slated to be completed by the end of September.

"We're trying to tie in some things that maybe we would have been doing in a year or two just so that we are not shutting it down in a year to do some smaller type renovations," added Drohomerski.

He added that they will not be renovating the facility again for a long time.
