The Drumheller Aquaplex and engineers from the Town are working diligently to fix the issue with the pool.
On Sunday, October 28, something went awry at the Drumheller Auqaplex that sparked an investigation into the issue of water exiting the pool as well as a short-term pool closure.
According to Drumheller CAO, Darryl Drohomereski, they may have found what's wrong.
"There was an issue (last year) with something that's called a hydro-static valve and we suspect that that's what is wrong with it again," speculated the CAO. "It's allowing water to leak."
The pool is open for public use but Drohomereski admits that the temperature is slightly cooler then it's normally been.
"Something happened to it on Saturday night that caused us to lose some water yesterday morning," said Drohomereski. "We filled it up and the pool was open just after lunch."
The town will have divers coming in and out of the Aquaplex in the coming days until the issue is completely repaired.
"We're just waiting for divers to come to actually go to the deep-end of the pool and look at this valve to see if this is the issue," concluded the CAO. "Again, we suspect that that's what it is."
The pool, until fixed, will be a few degrees cooler in the morning hours, effect those who are early swimmers or aqua-sizers.
