Update, September 11: the lockdown has been lifted and visits to the Drumheller Institution have resumed.
They just had one, but the Drumheller Institution is back under lockdown again.
Inmates were shut into their cells in the Medium Security Unit on Tuesday, September 5 so that staff members could conduct what was termed an "exceptional search" of the facility.
A statement from Correctional Service Canada says it's to ensure the safety and security of the institution, its staff and inmates. Normal operations will resume as soon as it is considered safe to do so.
In the meantime, visits to the prison are suspended until the search is completed.
The Drumheller Institution was last locked down on August 23 for an exceptional search.
