Another generous donation and they're inching closer to the final goal.

The Drumheller Lions Club donated a cheque for $5,000 for the accessible playground yesterday, July 11.

"We were about $10,000 away and now we're $5,000 away, so we are very very close," stated Nikki Isley with the Greentree Parent Council.

The total goal for the Greentree Accessible Playground was $350,000 and the goal has almost been reached in under a year of fundraising.

"It hasn't been a full year, we've been fundraising since October and really most of the big fundraising has happened this spring. It's really come in quickly," expressed Isley.

So, when will construction begin?

"We're hoping for the town to come start the excavation next week. We have some final things to line up and are hoping for the last $5,000, but the hope is that they can come next week to get started," Isley concluded.
