A jam packed, fun filled day at the Drumheller Valley Secondary School yesterday, June 1.

DVSS held their Canada 150 celebration that was put on by the students. DVSS 150

"My Enterprise and Innovation students came across the idea of wanting to host some sort of cultural event, so we turned it into a Canada 150 celebration," stated teacher and organizer, Cindy Sereda.

Sereda noted that it was fun to see the kids outside and enjoying the day. DVSS 150 2

Events included a softball game, slip n' slide and more.

"Some of our Grade 7 students also took it upon themselves to set up a fundraiser for the Humane Society, so we've had some pets down here where kids could take a dog for a walk or a kitten for a snuggle. We also had a dunk tank and all proceeds are going to Kid Sport," Sereda explained.

The DVSS Enterprise and Innovation class, as well as Sereda, wanted to thank the community and those who sponsored yesterday's event.

"Atco Electric provided us tents for the day as well as the Town, Freson Bro's made some donations with water and freezies and Riverside Valley Drug Mart donated some bottled water for us as well. This just makes our fundraiser efforts for the Drumheller Humane Society and the dunk tank a lot easier."
