The 2017-18 hockey season will be a lot brighter, but not because of jersey changes.

The Town of Drumheller has been focusing on upgrading the Memorial Arena lighting to LED lights.

"We're going to take all the lights that are over the ice surface and in the stands to change them to a lower wattage, but higher lumin power light," explained Darryl Drohomerski, Director of Infrastructure Services for the Town of Drumheller.

"Once the season starts up and the ice is back in, the ice surface will be much brighter than it has been over the last several years. At the same time it will be much more efficient lighting system; more energy efficient and longer lasting bulbs," he noted.

Lights will be changed in the lobby, concession areas, stands and over the ice.

"At the end of the day, our goal is to be able to provide better experience for participants in the arena, but at the same time save energy which will also save money for the Town," concluded Drohomerski.
