The Alberta Junior Hockey League in partnership with RBC awarded Markus Boguslavsky of the Drumheller Dragons the 2019 RBC Community Award. A twenty-five hundred dollar cheque was presented to the Drumheller Family and Community Support Services on behalf of Boguslavsky.
" RBC worked with the AJHL in Alberta to introduce the ambassador program. Each AJHL team has an ambassador that was selected and that ambassador worked with RBC. They selected a charity or organization for the year and the organization they selected this year was FCSS, which we are really thankful for," explained April Harrison, Family and Community Support Services Coordinator for the Town of Drumheller.
The ambassador, Markus Boguslavsky, has dedicated his time to other organizations as well in conjunction with FCSS.
"We received one thousand dollars at the beginning of the season and then throughout the season, the ambassador worked with myself and RBC to volunteer with a number of different organizations and charities. Every time that three Dragons and three people from RBC volunteer for a period of time at each of these places, that organization also received one thousand dollars, which is amazing," continued Harrison.
FCSS already has an idea of where the donation is going to be allocated.
"We are really excited to have received the funds. The idea is that the money will go towards the youth centre that we are currently fundraising for. That gives us two and a half thousand dollars towards that program, which I know Markus was really keen to support," concluded Harrison. "We are looking at developing a youth hub here in town that would be offering out of school youth programming."
