Have you ever wanted to become a member of the RCMP?
The RCMP is hosting a career presentation on Wednesday, March 8 at the Badlands Community Facility at 6:00 p.m.
"It's not directly us that is holding it. It's our career people out of Airdrie that are actually going to come in here and give a presentation on careers with the RCMP," stated Corporal Trent Sperlie with the Drumheller RCMP.
"Over the next couple of years the RCMP is looking to staff close to 1,000 positions a year for the next couple of years. They're really out recruiting hard and we're looking for some good people that want to get into the RCMP and the adventure," Sperlie noted.
This presentation will be more of an information seminar as they want to sit down with those interested to talk about what it takes to become a member of the RCMP.
"They're going to talk about the good things and some of the things people don't like as much, which is the frequent moving. They want to dispel any myths and give a full idea of what it is to become an RCMP member, including the process itself," Sperlie explained.
He added it could be anywhere across the country.
"The majority of our staffed positions within the RCMP are in Western Canada, but we do have a lot of positions in Eastern Canada as well," outlined Sperlie.
"When everybody signs up, they sign up with the knowledge that they can go anywhere in Canada. That can be from a major centre to some very very small fly-in communities."
