Early this morning around 6 A.M, DrumFM received a report that Drumheller Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the Drumheller Landfill due to a fire.

As DrumFM proceeded to investigate, we could notice that there was in fact a fire a-top one of the landfill's hills.

We know so far that multiple fire units have been dispatched as well, the cause of the fire is yet to be identified.

Early reports from yesterday evening also stated that the fire was smouldering as white plumes of smoke rose up from the landfill grounds.

More updates will be provided as DrumFM receives them.

For now, the landfill will remain closed until further notice. Residents of Rosedale and the surrounding area are advised to close their home windows to cut down on smoke intake.
