Drumhellions won't have to make extra stops on their way to the hospital for 'get well' gifts as the Drumheller and Area Hospital's gift shop is now open.
"It's the Hospital Auxiliary that's running the store and there is other volunteers that work at the hospital that have asked if they could volunteer to work there as well," stated Elizabeth Gallagher,  Chair of the Drumheller Hospital Auxiliary and Vice Chair of the Alberta Hospital Auxiliaries Association.
Gallagher explained that the Hospital Auxiliary uses its money for the equipment needed at the hospital. They receive a wish list, then the board chooses what items are most needed and donate money towards the equipment.
"We also give out $500 dollar scholarships to grade 12 students who are going into nursing for their secondary education. This year there was two other them that we gave their letters to collect their scholarships, but only one got back to accept their scholarship. So this year there was really only one," Gallagher added. GIFT SHOP SIGN
The gift shop will be open Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
"We're always looking for volunteers and we're looking for members for the Hospital Auxiliary. They could get some information buy just coming down to the shop (hospital)."
