The Pioneer Trail Centre might have taken down their Christmas decorations, but that doesn't mean the Christmas season is over.

Barry Fullerton is a member of the Pioneer Trail. He told 99.5 Drum FM about the centre's annual Christmas party, which actually takes place in January.

"Instead of having a Christmas dinner, we always move it into January and have it then. So much goes on during December, so you're just in competition with a whole bunch of other people."

This year's event took place on Tuesday, Jan. 23, said Fullerton, and the centre was close to full.

"We had 82 [participants]," he explained. "I think we printed 85 tickets, so we were pretty close to being sold out."

So did the Pioneer Trail Centre make any money from hosting a feast for more than 80 people?

"No," admitted Fullerton. "It's a break even event."

The Pioneer Trail Centre on 3rd Ave. is an activity hub for seniors in the area. The group offers a variety of recreational activities and opportunities to socialize.
