Hey kids, have a business idea that you want turned into reality?
Youth Entrepreneurship camp wants to give locals the chance to learn more about business.
"Youth Entrepreneurship camp is actually run by Community Futures. It's a fantastic program for kids aged 13 to 15 who are business minded or want to learn more about business and want to have fun at the same time," stated Larae Pierson of the Rural Alberta Business Centre in Hanna.
Pierson has been a team leader at the camp for the last three years.
"It's absolutely amazing what the kids come up with. They need to come up with a business idea, negotiate with a banker and one kid actually goes into town to buy all the supplies for the product, assemble it together and then sell it on Business Day when their parents come to pick them up," Pierson noted.
"It's not strictly focused on business though. The first night they get there they learn their colours, which is a personality type of test. They get to see how they work best together in their teams and they get to do recreational activities like ziplining, paint ball and tag."
The Youth Entrepreneur Camp is in Cypress Hills from August 13 to the 15.
"Registration is open right now and it doesn't cost anything to register. We joke that it's the only camp you can go to for free and then bring money home."
