The Atlas Coal Mine National Historic Site celebrated a milestone Sunday afternoon.
The major tourist attraction near East Coulee welcomed their 500 thousandth visitor, Phani Adapa and his family.
"I'm excited actually," said Adapa. "I was listening to the radio this morning and they did say that they're almost there with the 500 thousandth visitor , so it's interesting that we are the half millionth visitor, so we're excited."
Adapa added they have been to Drumheller before, but never to the Atlas Coal Mine and it's also the first time they brought their kids.
"We are happy to be here and actually this is going to be a good trip for our kids, especially for our daughter who's in grade three, so I think this is more of an educational trip to her and first time for us to be in a coal mine," smiled Adapa.
The family camped in Drumheller, met friends and planned to see the Royal Tyrrell Museum before heading back to Saskatoon.
