In 1964 Alan Walker of Drumheller helped to found the Alberta Music Festival Association. Since then, there has been a Music Festival in Drumheller, and the 2018 Music Festival went off without a hitch.

"Overall, the festival went really, really well this year. We had seven different disciplines and adjudicators come from all over Alberta to help adjudicate for us," beamed Amber Hodgson, Vice Chair of the Music Festival Committee.

The Drumheller Festival ran from March 12 until March 23 at both the Badlands Community Facility and Kaleidoscope Theatre on the south end of DVSS.

"What was surprising to me is that we had a lot more male applicants this year, which is always super awesome to see in the arts industry, reported Hodgson."Overall, our attendance was a little bit down in vocal and in speech again this this year; so we would love to see more applicants in those disciplines."

The Music Festival Committee is all volunteer based, and Hodgson says they are always looking for more members. Hodgson is trained in Classical Opera and has a love for music and the arts, which has driven her to become a part of the committee and have the Music Festival be a big part of her life.

"I just wanted to say a special thank-you to all of our sponsors and donors. The Music Festival would not be possible with out them, and we would definitely not be running, so all the support is definitely appreciated," added Hodgson.\
