Drumheller's best and brightest gathered at The Celebration of Excellence gala yesterday, June 15th.

The event was put on by the Drumheller and District Chamber of Commerce, The Town of Drumheller, FCSS Drumheller, and the Drumheller Rotary Club.

The night awarded many community members with scholarships, trophies and plaques for their efforts in the community.

Citizen of the Year went to Graham Giffin for his work within the community.

"I love this community, I love being involved with it and I share this award with many other volunteers," said Giffin.

The night also celebrated the efforts of many young citizens in town.

"I won the leadership award. I have done lots of stuff in the community like been a part of the Photography Club and I have done photo stuff with my school," said Keely Martin, who won a leadership scholarship. "It's a $500 scholarship. I am going to SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) in the fall so I will use it for that. I am taking film and video production."

While the night mainly consisted of award winners, there were a few who came just to join in on Drumheller's pride.

"Well, this is a great celebration of a lot of the great things that are going on in Drumheller. Of course, that is always led by all the great people. We get to enjoy some of the great stars of Drumheller." said Town Councillor Tom Zariski.
