Construction is steadily progressing at Drumheller's indoor pool.
The renovations at the Aquaplex have moved from the demolition phase into the installment of the gradual entry liner.
"The Aquaplex is progressing along, there was a lot of demolition that was going on for a few weeks longer than anticipated," said the town's director of infrastructure services, Darryl Drohomerski. "The contractor ended up finding a bunch of concrete that wasn't on any plans that we had of the old pool construction so it took a little bit longer to get that work done."
"I think just like anything whether you are doing a big renovation at home or a big building when you start to do the demolishing it really doesn't look like much," explained Drohomerski. "It never looks that great until you start putting the new product in and the last week everyone has been expressing excitement over the fact that the liner is going in."
"It is going to be a fantastic showcase for the town, you'll be able to use it all year long, and just to have that gradual entry part, a new hot tub and steam room people will be very pleasantly surprised when they see it."
The indoor pool at the Aquaplex is scheduled to reopen in the beginning of October.
