It could well be the adventure of a lifetime for some local youth.

Twelve of them, accompanied by three chaperones, headed out of the Drumheller Valley this morning, bound for Horseshoe Canyon and the first stop on their Badlands to Banff bike trip.

"I love the trip itself, I love seeing the leadership being built in other people and I, myself, am also becoming a better leader by going on this trip," stated Andrew Germain, who is taking part in the Two Wheel View Alberta bike trip for the third time. "And it's just another fun way to spend my summer rather than just working the whole time."

Spencer Mammel is also taking his third Badlands to Banff trip and he knows what he's looking forward to.

"Definitely, getting to Banff and seeing the look on everyone's faces because everyone's just so excited to get to Banff and enjoy the journey that they've just gone through."

Most of the riders were wearing neon yellow T-shirts specially designed for the trip by Randi McHugh, who is joining Two Wheel View for the first time. Bikes Randi

"I wanted to really show the mountains and the difference between the Badlands and Banff because it's such a great distance to bike," she told 99.5 Drum FM.

The riders will spend the next 10 days on the road, arriving in Banff on August 20, after which they will be bused back to Drumheller.
