A cowboy from Carbon is looking forward to competing at the Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR) in Red Deer the first week of November.

Cole Goodine sits 5th in the Canadian Bareback standings after winning over $2,600 at the recent Grassroots Rodeo in Calgary.

He's also driving a new truck won this summer in Red Deer.

"I won the truck at the Glencross Invitational Event: both rides I had there were great," he told Drum FM. "The long go (round) I was 88 on a horse that I didn't really know, which turned out to be really good; and then got the horse I wanted in the short go and I was 88 on that too."

With the recent success, Goodine is looking forward to the CFR, which begins on October 31 at the Red Deer Centrium.

"I've got high hopes; you've got to have high hopes and go in like you're going to win the whole thing. Otherwise, you're in the wrong sport, right?"

"CFR is the last (official) event of the season and then a couple of weeks after that, we have Regina, the Agribition, which counts towards next year," he outlined. "I went down to the States for a little bit and worked on my standings down there so I can get into some of the bigger rodeos down there and I might make another run, depending on how I feel after CFR."
