Your Dragons cranked up the volume of the Memorial Arena tonight when they hosted the Olds Grizzlys. Drumheller is still in the fight for second in the AJHL South Division while the Grizzlys are fighting for their playoff lives.
The Dragons called up an affiliate goaltender for the game this evening, Ty Marcinkowski, from Camrose. Ty would make his first AJHL start tonight for the Dragons. Former Dragon, Jay Thomson would get the call for Olds in net. Drumheller would take it to Olds right from the drop of the puck. Play was mostly in the Grizzlys zone for the period. Drumheller would open the scoring at 8:40 when Derrick Budz would score his 21st of the season from Troy Dudley and Brady Risk making it 1-0 Dragons. Drumheller would add another at 13:43 when Eric Martin would score his 7th from Jordan Taupert and Shane Ott. The Dragons would make it 3-0 at 16:14 when Markus Boguslavsky scored his 15th of the season from Jordan Taupert and Brayden Nicholetts. Olds would get on the board prior to the end of the period when Joel Shoemaker scored to make it 3-1 Drumheller after one period.
In the second, Drumheller would add to their lead on the man advantage when Scout Truman scored his 9th of the season from Shane Ott and Troy Dudley. Drumheller would score their fifth goal with 33 seconds left to go in the second. Matt Raymond would get his 2nd of the year from Kiano Robinson and Eric Martin. The Dragons would lead 5-1 after two periods and Olds did not seem to have an answer.
The third was similar as the play continued to be mostly in the Grizzlys zone. Olds would only be able to muster one shot on goal throughout the third stanza. The Dragons would finish off the scoring with their third power-play goal of the game. Roc Truman would score his 22nd of the season from Brayden Nicholetts and Brady Risk. The final score would be 6-1 in favour of the Dragons. Six players had a two-point game for Drumheller. With the win, the Dragons tie a single-season record of wins at 35 and stretch their winning streak to seven games. They can beat that record on Tuesday night.
