The 5' 11 Right Shot Defenseman, Drumheller Dragons' Bradley Stonnel, who plays with deception and creativity, has committed to Robert Morris University, in Pennsylvania, for the 2019-2020 hockey season.
Stonnell joins the Colonials who are a member of the Atlantic Hockey Conference in the NCAA Division level 1 with an overall record of 14-20-2.
"It's well deserved and well earned. He's been a great hockey player for the Drumheller Dragon organization. He's academically committed and got through school with strong grades," said Coach of the Drumheller Dragons, Kevin Hasselburg. "He learned how to battle through adversity over the three years that he played Junior hockey. You put all those intangibles together, Robert Morris was the one school that really stepped up and believed in him and I think it's going to be a great match with Coach Schooley and Coach Van Rentergem. Couldn't be more proud for him."
This is Stonnell's third and final season with the Drumheller Dragons. The total of games he has played with the Dragons is 109 games, scoring 25 goals and totaling 78 points.
"Bradley, just as all those other kids who have earned scholarships, they've put in the work, they've put in their time and they're going to keep climbing that ladder. It just goes to say that hard work does work. That's why they're having success," said Hasselburg.
With the prospects of College Hockey, these players have a lot of goals to shoot for on and off the ice.
"We hope that we can continue to help our players grow as individuals and as players. The more opportunities that we see for these kids to advance their careers onto College Hockey and hopefully pro hockey beyond that," said Hasselburg.
Drumheller congratulates Bradley Stonnell on his continued success in College Hockey with the Colonials.
