Your Drumheller Dragons were in action on Saturday night at the Memorial Arena.  They faced off against the Calgary Mustangs.

This is the third meeting between the two clubs with the season series tied at a game a piece.  Both teams have won in their home rink.  The Dragons were hoping that trend would continue tonight.  Drumheller got off to a great start 54 seconds into the game when Jordan Taupert scored his twelfth of the season from Brayden Nicholetts and Alex Rotundo.  The Mustangs would tie the game only 2:38 later when Daniel Rybarik scored.  Drumheller would retake the lead at 8:43 when Brayden Nicholetts scored his seventh of the year, short-handed, from Jordan Taupert, to make it 2-1.  The Dragons would add another before the end of the period when Brady Risk scored his sixteenth of the season at 14:34 from Shane Ott and Eric Martin.  The Mustangs outshot the Dragons 15-11 in the period but the Dragons lead 3-1.

Very early in the second period, 37 seconds to be exact, Aiden Yakimchuk scored his fourth of the season, on a point shot from the left point.  Nicholetts and Taupert would get the assists on the goal.  It was back and forth in the period but nothing would come of it.   The Dragons lead 4-1 going into the third period.

Calgary continued to put pressure on the Dragons in the third to try to get back into the game.  At 9:45 into the period, Chase Miller from the Mustangs would score to make it 4-2 Drumheller.  Calgary would add another on the power play with 3:37 left in the game when Tanner Klassen scored a crazy bouncing goal to make it 4-3 Dragons.  The Mustangs would pull their goaltender Ashton Abel with just under two minutes left to go, while on the man advantage.  Calgary could not get the equalizer and with 7.2 seconds left Eric Martin would score his third of the year into the empty net.  Kaden Hanas should get an assist on the goal as he flipped the puck up to Martin.  The final would be 5-3 Dragons.
