Charli Calon, our own Drumheller softball player has made the cut. She is in the top 19 for the Team Alberta Athlete Pool.

Charlie Calon has evolved into the player she is today by her strong will and dedication. " I played T-ball when I was four. Just after that I played with the boys for a year, then softball in Drumheller." Her success to date has been a long journey. Because of her love for the game, she's been very successful.

When Drum FM asked Calon what she is striving for with the announcement of being in the top 19, she stated, "There is Summer Games this August in Swift Current."

The first tryouts that Calon attended, started out with 120 plus players. Calon explained how the cuts for the team worked. "The first cuts with everyone in Red Deer and there was another one in Calgary, that went down to around 33. Then there were second cuts in the beginning of this month and that went down to the 19." She is working hard to make the final cut.

Calon is a very well rounded player. Surprisingly enough, she does not only play one position. "I play pitcher, center field and short stop." she said.

No matter what, Charli Calon is going to hit it out of the park with her determination and her softball talent.
