The Drumheller Dragons are now accepting registrations for their upcoming hockey school program.
The program runs August 14 to 18 at the Memorial Arena for kids aged 6 to 14.
"Anyone who wants to learn more about hockey. There are ice sessions, there's off ice activities and we've added a sports psychologist and a nutrionist to talk to the kids as well," explained Dragons Business Manager Nicky Faye.
The day camp for ages 6 to 14 will focus on power skating and skill development, nutrition, team building, proper stick handling, agility and more. There is also a Shooting and Checking Clinic for kids aged 9 to 14. This will teach proper checking skills including safe delivery and will help players improve their shot accuracy.
The Junior Prepatory Camp is also part of the program and is designed for midget players or those entering the the junior level to sharpen their skills for the upcoming season and to get in shape. This program is for kids aged 14 or older.
"Lunch this year is optional. They can be included in the lunch program, but if they'd rather pack their own lunch then that's fine too. It's a buffet lunch catered by Boston Pizza," added Faye.
Camp times vary from age to age. Those between ages 6 and 8 will start at 8:00 each morning, ages 9 to 11 will start at 9:15 a.m. and ages 12 to 14 will take to the ice at 10:30 in the morning.
