A couple of weeks ago I was letting my dog Gyspy out in the morning, and I heard this girl singing the song "Issues" by Julia Michaels while she was waiting for the bus.
I was so intrigued by her voice. I just had to find out who she was. I put a description of her pink, accented boots on Facebook, but was cautious as to not give her location for safety reasons.I instantly received a message from her mom, my friend and neighbor, Karin VanderEnde. "Was this my kid?"
I gave Karen a little more information about what time it was, what she was wearing and who she was with. I asked Karen to ask her daughter after school, and it was confirmed that it was Karin's daughter, Carly Nundahl. I asked Carly if she would ever be interested in singing the anthem for the Drumheller Dragons if I was unable to do it, because I knew she would do a fantastic job at it. Carly said, "yes!" I was extremely excited for her.
Carly's first time singing the Anthem for the Drumheller Dragons was on Saturday, December 8th, 2018. She did such an amazing job! It is not easy to do. I asked her a few days later if she was nervous singing the anthem, because I am still kind of nervous when I sing it for the Dragons. Carly said she was nervous at first but then she calmed down.
Since then, Carly has come into the Drum FM studio to do an interview with me, and was on the radio today. I thought it would be a pretty cool experience for her and I was happy to show her and her mom around the Station afterwards.
Carly will continue to be my backup anthem singer for the rest of the season and hopefully the 2019-2020 season. Thank you Carly. You are a true light in this world, and keep singing and sharing your talent anywhere you can!! You are truly, now, Drumheller famous.
