There has been some conversation as to a posting from the Town of Drumheller in regards to the closure of the Drumheller Airport.
In a posting on social media, The Town of Drumheller shared that the Drumheller Municipal Airport is temporarily closed until further notice. All services at this location are currently on hold, including fuel sales, courtesy car and our indoor amenities. Snow and ice removal on the runway will continue as per policy but will be limited at other locations around the airport. Emergency services are still able to use this location with caution in the meantime. Responses to social media inquires and phone calls may be delayed as we work toward our new service model.
The Town of Drumheller has also shared that “Drumheller Municipal Airport is currently undergoing some staffing and service model changes to offer different elements and amenities to the municipal airport. We are aiming to reopen soon as we work through these organizational changes. In the mean time you are welcome to contact our Infrastructure Services department or the Airport Commission directly with any questions.”
The Town has confirmed that airplanes can still land at the airport. “Aircraft can land there and it is certainly open for emergency services. With that said, our snow removal and those sort of things may be delayed based on these temporary service level changes.”
The Town, Airport Commission, and a user group, are currently working towards reopening the airport as soon as possible. When that information becomes available, we will share it with you.
