Hempco Food and Fiber has received its Development Permit from the County of Leduc and commenced work on its hemp seed food, hemp nutraceutical nd hemp fiber processing equipment at its new Nisku Alberta location.  

They have a five acre site off Highway 2 just south of Edmonton.

The 56,000 sq. ft. building features 27 – 30 ft. ceilings, has energy efficient LED lights, and the floor sealant has been upgraded for the highest food grade Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and BRC international safety and quality control standards.

In a release thne company claims capacity (based on 20hr/day, 220 days/year operating):
-up to 5,000 ton/year hemp seed processing capacity producing 2,000 ton of hemp nut and warehousing space in 20,000 sq. ft., sales value is up to CAD$90m/year at going rates.
-up to 20,000 ton/year hemp fiber stock processing capacity producing 5,000 ton hemp fiber and sales value is up to CAD$8m/year at going rates.
-up to 2,000 ton /year industrial hemp leaf and flower chaff (@1% low THC CBD) processing capacity producing up to 20 ton extracted full spectrum low THC CBD concentrate in 4,000 sq. ft., sales value is up to CAD$1,000kg x 2,000,000kg /year = $2B at going rates.
-4,000 sq. ft. clean room area for blending and packaging protein powders, food bars and hemp burgers.

"We still have a lot of work to do, and more money to spend to get it running the way we want, and we will need to hire many more good people," says CEO Charles Holmes. "The Alberta government has been very supportive. Logistically we couldn't be in a better place."

Hempco is targeting June 2017 for a grand opening of food and fiber processing.
