Your Drumheller Dragons had a couple of games this weekend against the top two teams in the AJHL South Division.
Saturday night, the Dragons hosted the Canmore Eagles. This was the first time the two teams have met this season and it would end up being a great hockey game.
The Eagles would open the scoring late in the first period. With 44.6 seconds left in the period, Cohen Daoust would get one by Dragons netminder Sean Cootes, making it 1-0 Canmore after one period.
The Dragons would get on the board midway through the second on the power play. Leading goal getter for the Dragons and in the AJHL, Bradley Gallo, added to his league lead with his 18th of the season, from a kick pass by Will McLaughlin at 11:16 to tie the game 1-1. The game would remain tied heading into the third period.
Early in the third, the Dragons would break the deadlock and take their first lead when Lauchlan Kozicky scored his seventh of the season, from Allen Sherpa and new Dragon Jarred Feist. That would end up being the game winner as Drumheller would come away with the 2-1 victory.
